And all the ways I got to know, your pretty face and electric soul…

Today I am sharing one of my favourite dresses.  I got this dress a few years ago from Diane von Furstenberg, and can she do a wrap dress or what?  This dress is very spring-y, and I must say I am so ready for it!

Dress: Diane von Furstenberg (similar), Shoes: Ivanka Trump, Necklace: Tiffany and Co., Bracelets: Vintage, Lipstick: Nars Annabella
There is nothing more classic than a wrap dress, other than well the black and white pattern…  This dress is such a comfortable, easy to wear piece.  It can go from day to night flawlessly.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

Got the Ferris Bueller blues…

Today, a Wednesday, late August, pleasantly warm, surprising as we are now well into the “dog days” of summer.  And I had a fairly easy day at work, which is always refreshing.  During these last few weeks of summer I am known to live in my sundresses, today was no exception, I went with my Betsey Johnson blue dress, it’s definitely one of the more wearable pieces of hers that I have seen in recent memory.  When it comes to my hair, make up and accessories, I tend to keep them as simple as possible during the summer.  I like a more “natural” look, covering what I need to and enhancing the better features.

This dress is just a great Summer staple, it’s a nice weight linen, with white ribbon trim and a ruffle hem.  I think I picked it up from the Betsey Johnson in Woodbury in 2008, I can’t believe that this dress has held up this long, but I’m glad it did.  Today I paired my vintage gold belt and Jimmy Choo flats (another Woodbury find).

Betsey Johnson is one of thouse designers that is just crazy, and I mean that in the best way possible!  Whether it’s a crazy print, tulle upon tulle upon tulle, or the cartwheels she does to close every show, she just has an amazing perception on what women’s fashion is and I hope that never goes away!  And on that note, it’s time to end!

I got that summertime, summertime sadness…

Today I wore my favourite ensemble for summer!  Honestly I could wear this dress everyday, it’s just that prefect and easily the most versatile piece in my wardrobe.  It’s light, flowy, and layers well anywhere from the “dog days” of summer to those hard to dress for transitional days that will be coming up in a few weeks (I know hard to believe).

Today I styled my Asos white button front midi dress with my favourite J. Crew Factory Clare cardigan, I wore my vintage gold belt to define my waist, with out a belt and being petite I sort of get lost in this dress.  And to wrap it all together I threw on my Louboutin white and red espadrille sling backs.  I am all about dresses for work and this one has to be the most comfortable, it’s light weight, easy to clean and very easy to style.  But I love this combo so much, I’m sad that I haven’t shared it sooner!  A cardigan is a must for the office, not only are we not allowed to expose our shoulders, but with the A/C on all day it sure can get cold in there.  This gold belt is probably one of my favourite accessories, it once belonged to J’s Grandmother, and it’s super awesome!  I love old vintage finds.  My Louboutins are super old, I think I got them in 2009, and I have worn the heck out of them since then, and they show it, (almost all of the red on the soles is gone) I’d like to replace them with a more year friendly pair, but it’s just not in the cards right now.  And one that note, it’s time to end!

 All for now,

Dancing in the dark and I shine…

This week was another light post week, and for good reason!  I have been feeling under the weather the past few days.  I had a big day at work yesterday, we are going through a test week for some computer stuff, and today was more of that fun stuff, not conducive at all to feeling ill.  So I thought I’d take some time and wrap my third week of my capsule challenge, which I can’t believe that we are pretty much done with week three!

Monday – I cheated!  I wore and ensemble that was not comprised of items on my original list.  I wore a Peter Pan collar grey tee, white midi skirt and my Tommy Hilfiger two piece flats.  After my busy weekend I didn’t have a chance to get all of my laundry done, so I reached for this outfit, it’s easy and summery so it fit with my theme of the week.

Tuesday – I hoped back on the bandwagon and wore my favourite navy blue G.H. Bass Co. sundress with boat patter, and my white with red polka dotted Christian Louboutin sling back espadrilles with jute wrapped wedge.  I will never have enough of either of these pieces, I love them so much, and I love that they incorporate red, white, and blue.

Wednesday – Here is were I really started to feel crummy, so I wore my Banana Republic white short sleeve dress (you know, the one I feel like I stole the sale price was so cheap!), and my Jimmy Choo flats (I have been living in these things this year).  I threw on my company’s logo sweater so I wouldn’t get cold in the office.

Thursday – I wore my Asos white midi sleeveless shirt dress, J. Crew 3/4 sleeve grey cardi, gold vintage belt and Jimmy Choo flats.  I woke up and coughed for about two hours, I really felt bad, J even said I looked really pale and not myself.  At least I had a cute ensemble on.

So this means I have now passed my mid way point.  I figured one cheat day in three weeks is pretty good considering, my current wardrobe is busting at the seems.  I already feel like I can do more with less and as items become unwearable if I can replace them with quality, well made (preferably made in America, or Fair Trade) I will.  I have also decided items that I don’t wear often will be donated, and not replaced.  I’m also going to be better about going to the dry cleaners, and tailor.  If it can be fixed or let out/taken in it will be.  And on that note, it’s time to end!
