Oh, say can you see my stars…

June was a pretty good month overall, J had his birthday, our little girl seven months! And Summer officially started, so today I am sharing some of my favourite things!

  1. Alex Pop! by Funko – J and I have a slight issue with Funko products, mainly the Pop!s, but I mean how can you not? They are just too stinking cute. I recently acquired Alex, for those not in the know he is the main character of the book and film A Clockwork Orange. Basically he is a functioning sociopath hopped up on Miloko, seeking Ultra-Violence (yes, that’s where LDR got her album title from), and singing show tunes in the rain. This Pop! is probably my favourite, he sits on my desk at work and only 2 or 3 people have gotten the reference. He is temporarily out of stock at Entertainment Earth where I primarily get these sort f things, but I’ve seen lots at Toys R Us and Barnes and Noble.
  2. Beauty and the Beast (2017) – This has to be my favourite film of 2017, and I think I can come out and say it since the year is half over. There hasn’t been a movie in recent memory that I have been more excited to see and enjoyed so much. You can check my review of the film (here).
  3. Boscia Luminizing Black Mask – I got this face mask from my last Sephora order and I waited to use it, I wanted to finish my GlamGLOW SuperMUD first, that mask started to not work so well for me. So I was looking for something different and I like the Boscia brand. This mask is super cool because after it dries you peel it off!
  4. Sundress weather – Now that it’s officially summer my sundresses have been in heavy rotation. I’m also still on my maxi dress kick! A dress is so easy for S/S and since becoming a mom I need easy!
  5. J. Crew Martie pant – Recently MIL took me shopping as a gift for my first official Mother’s Day and because she forgot my birthday (which I totally forgave her). I really needed to get some new clothes for work, because a lot of my pants and more fitted clothes still do not fit appropriately. I picked up two pairs of this style back in May and I have been living in them! I already had a pair from my pre-pregnancy days and I’m glad I picked up cloud grey and black. Right now select colours are on sale.

It’s hard to believe that June is over… Where the hell is this year going? Our Little Girl will be 8 months next week, Summer is in full effect, work is crazy and won’t stop anytime soon. Here’s to July and some sparklers and streamers! And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,

Hot summer nights, mid July When you and I were forever wild…

Hello friends, I know I’ve been away for a while.  Between work, helping my brother start a business and being pregnant during the summer I haven’t had much time to sit and write.

Over the past two weeks all of my favourite bloggers have been sharing their Nordstrom Anniversary finds, and I wish I could follow suit, but this year there was very little that spoke to me.  I am afraid to buy clothes for after baby, because well, I don’t know how quickly I will loose the baby weight.  And there was no A/W maternity styles on sale.  So I decided to check out A Pea In The Pod, which has some great quality brands I love, and the sale prices were an additional 40% off!!!!  I got some pieces that will hold me for the rest of my pregnancy (I hope!).

I picked up two Equipment blouses, who knew they had maternity styles?  I am hoping that they are going to work after baby too, because, well they are pretty bitchin’.  I ordered three dresses, they all just so happened to be from Seraphine, one black short sleeve, one blue patterned, and a long sleeve black printed that looks like something Ted Baker would offer.  I also broke down and purchased maternity jeans.  I really need them for weekends and days off.  my normal go to pairs are not cutting it any more.  I settled on a 7 For All Mankind boot cut, I have never bought a pair of $200 jeans before I hope they are worth it, they were discounted to $99 plus 40% off, so it was like how much every other pair I own cost.  And I rounded out my order with two long sleeve tops and two pairs of stockings.

I plan to eventually add some nursing attire in the next few months for when baby arrives, but I got what I needed for now.  My next purchase regardless of where from will no doubt need to contain some sweaters for A/W, some comfy pajamas, and maybe a fuzzy robe or two for those late night feedings my friends with children tell me about!  And on that note, it’s time to end!

Now my life is sweet like cinnamon…

After a much needed mini staycation I head back to work tomorrow.  I took a few days off to celebrate my birthday and my Father’s birthday.  With them being only a day a part we usually celebrate them together.  Today J and I got up early went to the DMV so I could renew my ID and then we headed down to Paramus, NJ to the Garden State Plaza mall.  We hit up all of my favourite stores like Nordies, Neiman Marcus, J. Crew, Macys and Banana Republic.  Aside from wanting all the shoes, mainly this amazing tartan pair of Manolo Blahniks, and of course the Valentino Rockstud in emerald.  But alas I did not end up purchasing a new pair of shoes.

I was really disappointed with J. Crew, mainly because everything I have been scoping out online was not available in the store, I’m sure they could have ordered anything I wanted, but the whole point of birthday shopping is instant gratification.  I guess I’ll just have to wait for my gift cards to arrive in the mail.

J and I also stopped off at Tiffany and Co., which is always a must.  I had a specific purpose in mind: find and try on the Bone cuff!  I was showed a medium in sterling silver and ruthenium, I definitely like the ruthenium better.  I am really glad I got to try the cuff on, because I need a small.

We then stopped for lunch at Joe’s attached to the mall, close to Nordies, I had mac and cheese with buffalo chicken, J had a fish sandwich.  We both had better meals from there previously.  I think they changed their menu around a bit.

The rest of our day was spent relaxing at home with a few beers and watching some tv.  I tried (finally) Brewery Ommegang Game Of  Thrones Three Eyed Raven dark saison ale.  It’s dark and delicious.  I can’t believe that I waited so long to try it (what kind of nerd am I?).  So I raise my glass (or bottle, cause I’m that classy).  Here’s to 27, and on that note, it’s time to end!

Nothing gold can stay, like love or lemonade

Today after an incredibly long week, our software upgrade at work was not hiccup free and lead to several late nights.  And three dinner-less ones.  J and I went to Poughkeepsie to the Galleria, for a bit of shopping.

This week broke me, by the end of my shift Friday I clocked over 60 hours.  Yes, I am well aware that there are many people who work that if not more, but I am a 40 hour a week gal, and going to bed super late is not fun for me.  There was a lot of stress, frustration, sweat and tears that went into this past week.  And I know that my mini vaca is just what the proverbial Doctor ordered.

So J surprised my with a drive to Poughkeepsie, for some light shopping.  I was very good and only purchased two new pairs of pants from Express (Tartan and Oxblood {they are calling Berry, but in person they look more Oxblood to me}).  I checked out Aldo, Macy’s, Loft, and Banana Republic all with no dice.  I feel like the best A/W collection is still J. Crew, although I’m glad I found the trousers because my A/W selection could use a bit more variety.  I was so very proud of my self that I did not go to Sephora and bought all of the things.  I already placed my order that replaced and stocked up on some things that I needed (more on this soon).

We then finished our excursion with lunch at Salsa.  It is a hole in the wall Mexican reataurant, and damn is it good!  I have never had a bad meal there.  My favourite thing on the menu, Chicken Fajita salad and a Cuervo Margarita is always good!  J had a Beef Burrito and a Cuervo Margarita.  It was the perfect end to our little adventure!  And on that note, it’s time to end.

So pray little Kay, love is just God on a good day…

So it has been a trying couple of days… And today was no exception.  I fought back frustration and nervous breakdowns as best as I could.  All in all I am super glad that I am home and relaxing.  I definitely needed it.  I kind of feel like a whole bottle of scotch (Glennfiddich, please) or a shopping spree, speaking off which (just keep reading, you’ll see)!

In other exciting news I broke my promise to myself and I ordered more stuff from Sephora.  I promised myself after m llast ordered that I would not re-buy or try new things that I would hold off until September when I am eligible for my Nars birthday gift (I am so stoked about it BTW).  But I just hit working at my job and for that tenure you are awarded an extra $150 (taxed of course) but even still!  So I relapsed in a big way and dropped 300+ I did replace some items that I am running out of and wanted to get full size (pressed powder, purity/microdelivery, primer, foundation) and some new things (Nars Audacious Annabelle {I can’t wait} and Wen).  I have been wanting to try Wen since I first heard about it several years ago.  I was always apprehensive (and for good reason this stuff is expensive as hell!), but my mother recently tried her set that I got from my last order and it completely changed her hair (which is very similar to mine).  So I was watching QVC Sunday afternoon (as one does when feeling crummy) and I decided since I was getting a little extra money that I wasn’t counting on I just went for it.  I also picked up Bumble and Bumble Prep, I love, love, love the Hairdresser’s Oil Primer, but this is cheaper and seems similar (we’ll see), a small barrel round brush to aid in blow drying my bangs (when I use my bigger brush my bangs end up looking ridiculous!), Bare Minerals BB cream, it’s cheaper and a bigger size than Shiseido and is a mix of BB and CC and I am excited to try it!  I also picked up Tweerzerman cuticle nippers, it was a big time splurge ($30) but if they are as good quality and J won’t break them, then I think it was worth it!  I should be receiving my order tomorrow and I plan to use the newly acquired Wen.  I plan to document my time using the product so stay tuned! And on that note, it’s time to end!

Spring blossoms you to me…

Spring is slowly trying to peek through, and with the nice, sunny, almost seasonally normal weather we have been having in the Hudson Valley, I have finally had a chance to break out my spring clothes! I have been coming up with ensembles I want to try basically all winter long and now that it’s finally coming to a close I thought it might be a good time to share some of my favourite pieces as well as some new additions and how I plan to style them. I am in the process of adding some new S/S15 items, and with the release of Lilly Pulitzer x Target tomorrow, I will be well on my way. I’m also waiting for my bonus from work to get another (or two or three) gift cards to take some of the burden off of my wallet!

I’m so excited to wear some of my favourites from last year and even earlier, like my J. Crew Factory finds from last year: eyelet peter pan collar blouse, boat sweater, khaki skimmer pants, and gingham button up. J. Crew is easily my favourite store, everything fits well, is made to last and so easy to mix and match. I am constantly checking the sale section for in season finds that are discounted. And J. Crew factory often has similar offerings to the full price big sister with out breaking the bank.

Next would be my sundresses, I own several that I have collected over the past few years. Sundresses are my Spring/Summer weakness, they are just so easy to wear/style and I WEAR them a lot! You can wear a sundress to work, play, the beach, brunch, even out for date night. Choosing my favourite is really hard, since I wear them all, but if I had to choose I would have to narrow it down to two, one from Gap that I don’t even remember when I bought it. It’s black, sleeveless and has a ruffle collar, this will be in my closet until it’s threadbare and then when it is I will wear a black slip underneath it, that’s how much I love this thing! I’m wearing it today and even though we aren’t really doing anything special. It’s just further proof that when the sun’s out that sun dresses are my go to! Since this particular dress is so old, finding similar items proved to be a slight challenge here are some of my favourite black options from Asos: here, here, and here. The second would be a navy v-neck short sleeve with a big sailboat print, it’s From G.H. Bass, I picked it up at the outlets in 2012. I love this one because I can wear it to work and not even have to try, it’s just that simple (in a nautical east coast preppy sort of way).

Spring also means sandal season and letting my little piggies hang out! I have been waiting to wear my Dr. Scholl’s pink sandals I picked up last year. I wore them all the time, for being pink, they are also a really easy to style shade. It’s also going to be time to break out my Jimmy Choo flats I think I picked them up in 2010 or 2011 (I even had my own sort of Pretty Woman moment when I bought them…) they are one of if not the most well made and comfortable pairs of shoes I have ever purchased or have ever owned. My Tommy Hilfiger two piece flats that just had to come home with me after spotting them in my local Macy’s last spring, while they are not the most comfortable, I still love them any way, and they are really easy to style with most of my S/S wardrobe. I’m also looking forward to wearing skirts and sundresses with my Kate Spade New York Kick Keds. They are the cutest little sneaks I’ve ever seen and based on the fact that that not only have the cutest little polka dot pattern, but they also have one dot that is striped?! I know I’ve mentioned them before but just behold the awesomeness that is these sneakers! And on that note it’s time to end!

All for now,
Kiki

And the butterflies turned to dust they covered my whole room…

On Wednesday I had the day off, so my mother and I had ourselves an adventure. It started out with my orthodontist appointment, where metal came off (a temporary bracket on my right canine the one I named “Waldo”, the ring on my left canine, and my first molars had to be replaced), more metal went on (the canines got new hardware as well as my third molars on each side, while the first molars got new brackets with hooks on them {more on that in a bit}). I got new arch wires as well, the top one has these silly loops that hook up so they are super annoying. The point of that is to hook a tiny rubber band from the loop which is near my lateral incisors back to the hook bracket on my second molars on either side. By doing this it will aid in moving my top front teeth back into position. But it hurts like crazy and I hate having to change them multiple times a day. But all in all we are getting closer to being done with my treatment than not!

Next on our little adventure was breakfast, we went to Pete’s Famous in Rhinebeck, it’s a quaint little diner, they use Fiestaware plate, so instantly it is our new favourite. We were pleasantly surprised. We then hit up a few antique stores and browsed around the Poughkeepsie Galleria. I found these super cute jeans from Ann Taylor Loft which I can not wait to wear! My mom also picked up a ffew pieces from Loft as well. Then we hit up Sephora, no shocker there… I picked up this nail drying spray, face mask, and more brush cleaner. I am really excited to try the face mask and drying spray. Once I’ve tried the new additions, I’ll share my thoughts once I test the newbies. And on that note it’s time to end.

All for now,
Kiki
