And in my head I paint a picture…

I recently saw a feature on The Covetuer and it got me thinking what are some of my favourite inexpensive beauty products? (And of course now I can’t find the feature…) So after thinking about it here are some of mine!

  1. Cocoa butter lotion– I started using this lotion during my pregnancy and let me tell you it’s pretty awesome! It’s super light weight and super cheap. Not to mention it last a really long time, and I’m only on my second bottle.
  2. Nievea Creme – I picked up a .99 tin from the local drugstore over the winter and fell in love. This is a creme I’ve wanted to try for many, many years now, and I am so glad that I did! You can snag the large tins from Amazon between 7.99 and 12.99, depending on the sellers.
  3. Not You’re Mother’s – I have been loving and using this brand’s dry shampoo and hairspray for several years now, both products smell amazing and work incredibly well!
  4. John Freida Beach Waves – By far my favourite wave enhancing spray, it smells like the original Beach Blonde, and works just the same! Get a little nostalgic for those of you who remember the 90s version!
  5. Neutragena makeup remover wipes – By far the cheapest, best quality wipes, and I have used several different brands, these reign supreme!
  6. Dove Beauty Bar – By far the best “not soap soap”, I use it daily, it’s even moisturizing enough to shave your legs with, because who the hell wants to deal with shaving cream? Most of the time I get about 10 minutes actually in the shower and the rest of my bathroom time is applying my lotions and potions, and combing my way too long hair.
  7. Dove deodorant  – I have been using this brand for several years, I tend to stick with the Original Clean or Powder scents. But every now and again I change it up with the cucumber or pomegranate scent.
  8. Rosebud Salve – I have been using this for several years, it’s just awesome! I love the way it smells, the consistency, and the longevity of the product… I mean it was created in the 1800s, talk about staying power, I use it at night and it keeps my lips hydrated and soft, especially through the harsh winter months.
  9. St. Ives Apricot Scrub – I have been using this face scrub on and off for as long as I can remember. I’ll use it once or twice a week all over to really exfoliate, the rest  of the time it’s a mild face wash and my Clarisonic.
  10. Just drinking water – I have been drinking water all day everyday for as long as I can remember… Long before I started to read teen magazines that barked at me to drink eight eight ounce glasses a day. I have a water bottle on my desk at work, one next to my workstation at home, one in my purse, and one next to my bed. I like everyone have good and bad days, but water is always my first choice to quench my thirst.

This was an easy feature to write, too often I am praising high end items that promise to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, zap acne and reduce scarring, and moisturize and leave your skin glowing. And these are some no frills budget friendly options that won’t break the bank and deliver exactly what they were designed to do. And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,

Look at you, kids, with your vintage music….

I have been away for a while, mainly because the transition into motherhood has been a challenge, meaning it’s the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life.  I have also been adjusting to my new position as Branch Supervisor at work.

But the reason we have gathered here today is to speak about the Sephora VIB sale.  I carefully curated my order for several days.  I mainly went with products I’ve used before, with a couple of new buys.

  1. Rosebud Salve – I went with the minted version after three tins of regular.  I love everything mint and I am hoping this is no different.
  2. Clinique Take Off the Day Cleansing Balm – I tried a deluxe sample of this and I love it! It really melts away my makeup. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a full size.
  3. Boscia Luminizing Mask – I have been looking for a new clearing mask for awhile now, GlamGlow SuperMud is no longer cutting it for me. I’m excited to try this because it’s a peel off mask.
  4. Shishiedo Sun Screen – I used the wet force version last summer or I should say my Husband did, and I needed some more, I’m looking forward to trying this version.
  5. Sephora Makeup Remover – I really like this product I’ve been using it for a while now, I feel it works well and it’s a great value for the money.
  6. Clarisonic Repalcement heads – I have been using the delicate brushes for a few years now and I feel they work well for my sensitive skin.  The sensitive brushes were too harsh, I’m glad I switched.
  7. L’Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm – I have used a ton of different eye creams and gels and this is the one.  It’s “balmy” and delicate, the scent is light and the moisturizing power is top notch.
  8. Clinique Mascara – I used this mascara before, I liked it, it was a basic tubular formula. I went back mainly for the price and I’m hoping round two is enjoyable.
  9. First Aid Beauty Moisturizer – I’ve never used this branch before but I have been wanting to try this. Since giving birth my skin is no longer the same and I’m hoping going back to a more traditional moisturizer will help.

That rounds out my Sephora order, I went with a light order, I tend to go big with the Autumn sale.  I’m looking forward to getting my order in the next few days.

I’m hoping to get back into posting on a more regular basis, it’s been an interesting few months and everyday has been a journey, an amazing crazy journey.  And on that note it’s time to end!

All for now,

Bluer than velvet was the night…

My September Sephora order arrived the other day, and I was finally able to take some pictures of my purchases!  I didn’t go to crazy this time, because I just opened some stuff up and I am looking forward to using up the make up purchases that I made earlier in the year.  This order was mainly skin care, and I majorly splurged on Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil.  I never should have asked for a sample, I knew it was going to be trouble!  I figured since I used up all of my sample that I might as well just get the full size, I haven’t really used a retinol before and now that I am practically 27 I think it might be time to step up my anti-aging routine.

I waited all year to get my Nars VIB Rouge birthday gift.  I am very excited to use the lip pencils, I think the rose shade Rikugien I will favor over the scarlet red Cruella, either way I think the size of the pencils is good, and with how I am with lippies I think they will last a long time.  The eyeliner is Via Veneto a basic black, I typically only wear powder eyeliner but I am excited to try the pencil, I might have more control than my liquid, which is not easy for me to use.  I restocked on Purity and Microdelivery, I don’t want to be with out either, I picked up the 8 o.z. size of both, I will pick up the larger sizes the next coupon code.  I typically use Purity in the morning, I love the light scent and I fell is wakes my skin up.  I use Microdelivery when in the shower, I feel it works better in the steam.  I had to order the full size GLAMGLOW SuperMUD, it was just so amazing and cleared my black heads better than anything else that I have ever used before or after, even though the price tag is hefty, it’s still worth it.  I restocked on Fresh Seaberry Oil, it was the only thing this past winter that made my skin look normal, so I picked up another full size, I’m about half way through my current bottle. I went for something new in regards to eye cream, L’Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm had the best reviews on Sephora’s site and I am so over the Fresh Lotus eye gel, it’s calming and refreshing, but it makes me tear and that is not ideal in my book.  I picked up more Rosebud Salve, I love this stuff, a pot lasts forever and it smells amazing.  I picked up a Shisiedo powder refill, I just noticed I hit the bottom of the pan in my current one, so I’m glad I have a back up.  I also went for the Sephora brand lip brush, I needed a new one and this is perfect, I also got the brand’s eye make up remover  Right now I’m using a deluxe sample from Lancome, it’s okay, and I wanted to find something a little less expensive.  I also got a couple of point perks, Benefit Roller Lash was something I have been wanting to try, I also got Perricone MD moisturizer, I’m not too familiar with the brand, but I tried it out and it’s okay, the texture is very balmy, it tingles a bit and it smells citrus-y.  The Mircale Worker moisturizer was a weekly special with code ULTIMATE.

As far as packaging goes The real winner here is Sunday Riley, not only was the bottle sleek and refined, the box it came in was incredibly sturdy and the oil was safe in it’s jar.  I like that it has a dropper like the Seaberry oil does, I feel it’s easier to use that way.  I am in love with the L’Occitane eye cream jar, the deep blue is amazing, it looks like a sapphire soaking in the sun,  I know it will look just darling on my dresser.  And on that note, it’s time to end.

All for now,
