Look at you, kids, with your vintage music….

I have been away for a while, mainly because the transition into motherhood has been a challenge, meaning it’s the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life.  I have also been adjusting to my new position as Branch Supervisor at work.

But the reason we have gathered here today is to speak about the Sephora VIB sale.  I carefully curated my order for several days.  I mainly went with products I’ve used before, with a couple of new buys.

  1. Rosebud Salve – I went with the minted version after three tins of regular.  I love everything mint and I am hoping this is no different.
  2. Clinique Take Off the Day Cleansing Balm – I tried a deluxe sample of this and I love it! It really melts away my makeup. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a full size.
  3. Boscia Luminizing Mask – I have been looking for a new clearing mask for awhile now, GlamGlow SuperMud is no longer cutting it for me. I’m excited to try this because it’s a peel off mask.
  4. Shishiedo Sun Screen – I used the wet force version last summer or I should say my Husband did, and I needed some more, I’m looking forward to trying this version.
  5. Sephora Makeup Remover – I really like this product I’ve been using it for a while now, I feel it works well and it’s a great value for the money.
  6. Clarisonic Repalcement heads – I have been using the delicate brushes for a few years now and I feel they work well for my sensitive skin.  The sensitive brushes were too harsh, I’m glad I switched.
  7. L’Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm – I have used a ton of different eye creams and gels and this is the one.  It’s “balmy” and delicate, the scent is light and the moisturizing power is top notch.
  8. Clinique Mascara – I used this mascara before, I liked it, it was a basic tubular formula. I went back mainly for the price and I’m hoping round two is enjoyable.
  9. First Aid Beauty Moisturizer – I’ve never used this branch before but I have been wanting to try this. Since giving birth my skin is no longer the same and I’m hoping going back to a more traditional moisturizer will help.

That rounds out my Sephora order, I went with a light order, I tend to go big with the Autumn sale.  I’m looking forward to getting my order in the next few days.

I’m hoping to get back into posting on a more regular basis, it’s been an interesting few months and everyday has been a journey, an amazing crazy journey.  And on that note it’s time to end!

All for now,

There are never toys that’s scattered everywhere…

I have been away for what seems like forever. I’ve had good reason though. Going through the last few weeks of pregnancy were no walk in the park, and then giving birth and having a new tiny human have been no small task either.

I gave birth to a healthy happy baby girl a few weeks ago and my life has forever been changed. We are all doing well and trying to adjust to our new roles.

Over the next few weeks I’m going to share my birth experience and a little more about how I’m adjusting. So while everyone is planning for the holidays I’ll be catching up and trying to get back on the bandwagon.

I have been finding myself writing during and editing during feedings and it’s mostly super late at night so you’ll all have to bear with me.

But just so y’all know I’m still here, it’s just that life with a newborn has been very challenging, especially the sleeping bit!

Like any new Mom would I’m planning on incorporating more posts about Motherhood, it’s probably going to be frequent at first, since that’s all my life consists of right now. And on that note it’s time to end!

Lies can buy eternity…

It’s practically mid-March, Spring is just around the corner, Easter a couple weeks away, but before we get there, the dreaded Day Light Savings must be observed.  We go through it every year, loose an hour of sleep in the Spring to gain more daylight, in the Autumn we get an extra hour.

To me it just seems an antiquated system, that really brings a lot of us down.  Did you know they don’t observe DST in Arizona?  How cool is that?  DST started during WWI, but wasn’t made into a law (The Uniform Time Act) until 1966, beginning in 1967 which mandated standard times and time zones.  So that’s why we do this, it’s a law, and because of that we screw up out sleep cycles and we get more daylight, yay!  So I’m tired today, how about the rest of you?  And on that note, it’s time to end!

And I’m trying to understand myself and pinpoint where I am…

I had so much fun sharing my Christmas playlist that I thought I might do it again.  I am really big into music over her at B@K, if any of you haven’t noticed!  So I decided to share the songs that have been stuck in my head other than Christmas music over the past few weeks.  If it’s not Punk, LDR or Classic Rock, I listen to Doo Wop, EMO and even some Pop.  Since upgrading to my to my iPhone 6 Plus two weeks ago I finally had a chance to put some music on my phone.  And here are some of my favourites.

1. Art Deco – Lana Del Rey
2. Cecilia and the Satellite – Andrew McMahon
3. Style – Taylor Swift
4. Silly Girl – The Descendants
5. Train in Vain – The Clash
6. Punk Rock Princess – Something Corporate
7. Teenagers – My Chemical Romance
8. Nine in the Afternoon – Panic At The Disco!
9. Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen
10. Free Fallin’ – Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
11. Serial Killer – LDR
12. Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset – Modest Mouse
13. You’re So Last Summer – Taking Back Sunday
14. Devil’s Waitin’ – Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
15. Come And Go With Me – Dion

A lot of my favourite music is all over the place.  I can’t decide on one genre, time period, or style.  I just love music.  As if you all couldn’t tell…  Happy listening everyone!  And on that note, it’s time to end.

Its the only thing I want this year…

Well it’s November and that means we are officially in the Holiday Season!  Although I am not the biggest fan of over commericalized bliss, I do enjoy the holiday season, I prefer to be with my family and enjoy good food, drink, and a toasty fire.  This year my wishlist is a bit lean.  I have been investing in a lot of my effort into building my perfect forever wardrobe and pinning down my beauty and skincare routines.  In addition to my top picks, I’m also in the market for a new laptop.  I need a laptop for portability, my current one can do most things just fine, but it overheats and that is just not good.  J has already mentioned that one may be waiting under the tree for me!   And now with out further ado, here is my Christmas 2015 wishlist!

1. Burberry wool scarf – In classic colours please!  Of course to match my quilted jacket and trench coat!

2. Leather tech gloves – If there is one thing I hate about my current pair of leather gloves, it’s that I need to take them off to access my iPhone, which is incredibly annoying.  I’d prefer black to match my coat and other outer wear accessories.

3. Diamond stud earrings – I have been wanting a pair forever, and they should be from Tiffany’s, being that I am a big Tiffany’s gal.  Round would be my preferred shape, and not too big.

4. Guerlain Meteorites – Regular Clair 02 – I have been hearing some great things about these often referred to “Magic Balls”.  I’m a big fan of setting powders and I’m itching to try this one.

5. Honeymoon by Lana Del Rey – On vinyl please!  I love this record and I would love to listen to it on vinyl, I think the depth of each track would offer a unique listening experience.

6. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby – High Fidelity is one of my favourite films, and I would love to read the book, I probably should have read the book long ago, but better late than never.

7. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams – Another one of my favourite films, and there are so many great lines.  I would like to read all of the books.

8. Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell – One of my favourite books and films.  I read this book a long time ago and I never got my own copy.

Like I said I kept it simple this year.  I would rather spend some quality time with my friends and family over the holiday season than get a bunch of stuff.  But regardless of what is important I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season!  And on that note, it’s time to end!

I may have no Jesus, I may have no soul…

I got myself thinking about what some of my favourite quotes are.  Like if I had motivational posters what would they say.  Would I line my walls with the typical “Hang in there” cat poster?  No, not so much, it’s just not my style.  So I’ve composed a short list of quotes, that I enjoy.

“Life imitates art” from Gods and Monsters by LDR – This song gets stuck in my head all the time.  And this line reminds me that no matter how hard we try no one is perfect.  And who really wants to be anyway?

“But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep” from Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost – English has always been a big part of my life.  It was always my favourite subject in school.  I vividly remember the lesson in eleventh grade English class about this poem.  It’s structure, and subject matter.  There was just something so simple, but significant about it.  When ever I read this poem I get chills.  And Frost is definitely one of my favourites.

“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love, and be loved in return” from the movie Moulin Rouge – This has to be one of my favourite quotes from a film, as well as one of my favourite films of all time.  So beautiful, so eloquent, so much, and heavy all at the same time.

“Chaos is what killed the dinosaurs” from the movie Heathers – Yeah, it’s a little cynical, but so am I.
“They say there’s a passage where all stand to judge, but the Devil’s a waitin’ with Christ like a son” from Devil’s Waitin by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – The first time I heard this song I got chills.  The music is haunting, the lyrics masterful.  All in all a beautiful song.

I kept the list brief, I could bore you all with Coco Chanel and Lee McQueen quotes, even miss credited Marilyn Monroe quotes, but this list is the core, the things I tell myself when I am having a terrible day and all I want it a glass of wine and a nap.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

Everything you do is elusive…

Lana Del Rey’s latest effort dropped on 09/18 in the states.  Entitled Honeymoon, her third full length studio album, was not unlike any previous albums.  There are a lot of haunting vocals, hip hop beats, cinematic soundscapes, and weaving in lyrics that are obviously recycled.  It all works.  This effort is a more obvious follow up the the Paradise EP.  Where Ultraviolence left me wanting Honeymoon picks me up and puts me back on my LDR loving path.

Honeymoon is mostly smooth and jazzy.  But only elegant, so elegant that I need to be wearing a fur, drinking a martini (shaken, not stirred) and James Bond is coming to whisk me away.  My stand outs are Music To Watch Boys To, which is trippy, the chorus is catchy as hell and LDR even references Frost.  High By The Beach weaves past lyrics without sounding forced, and not to mention that the video is amazing.  Freak, Art Deco, and Salvatore are probably my favourites on the record.  All three are the epitome of what drew me to her sound to begin with.  A true must listen for any LDR fan, if you don’t know LDR, don’t start here, it won’t make sense.  And on that note, it’s time to end.
