This week we are going a little more casual with this look. Yes, it can be work appropriate, or great for brunch on Sunday! These pieces are a couple of Spring favourites of mine from J. Crew Factory. I have amassed quite the J. Crew collection over the past few years and I really like the brand. Yes, they are technically “Fast Fashion” which I try to stay away from, but I find that the pieces I have invested in are of great quality and many have lasted for years, and will for years to come.
I love this blouse for a couple of reasons, the first being the adorable Peter Pan collar, the second being the eyelet pattern, and the third being how easy it is to wear. I’ve worn it with a skirt, a suit, jeans, or khakis like I’m sharing today. My flats are one of my favourite pairs of flats I own. I’ve had them for years, they are so comfortable, easy to wear and look great with just about anything. And on that note, it’s time to end!
Spring is here again, and I thought I might share how I plan to style some of my favourite pieces for 2016. As with Winter, I don’t plan to add too many new pieces. I do plan to make the most out of what I have be fore adding to my wardrobe. My low buy/no buy initiative for 2016 is in full effect! I’m only going to repurchase what I need and splurge on quality pieces that I know will last for years! I’m looking forward to Spring and all of it’s possibilities. There is so much that I want to do with my clothes, but alas work gets in the way…
Chambray Pop over J. Crew, Red Chinos Tommy Hilfiger, Jimmy Choo flats
White PB Calvin Klein, Blue midi J. Crew, Cream flats Jimmy Choo
Anchor Henley J. Crew, Blue Chinos Banana Republic, Loubies
As I think everyone can see my Spring/Summer wardrobe many consists of red, white, blue, and some black pieces. I also own a lot of nautical themed pieces. I have been waiting all Winter long to break out my S/S clothes. I wanted to share more looks, but I figure I have all Summer to do that! What are some of your favourite pieces from previous years that you can’t wait to wear? And on that note, it’s time to end!
We are again revisiting one of my favourite subjects… The “forever wardrobe”, in this edition we are looking at some shoe basics. The bare minimum every gal needs. I for one have a lot of heel options, but my go to are black patent leather and nude patent leather pumps. I also love a loafer, my current pair is a burgundy, from G. H. Bass Co. They are so comfortable, I feel like I’m walking on air. For this post I went with some quality options. Again I would adjust for the best one can afford.
I am loving the Gucci loafers, I mean are they darling or what? I’m also a big Chuck Taylor fan, and have been for years. I have had them in several different colours, both All Star and High Top version all throughout high school. I used to change the laces out for fun patterned ones that I would buy at Hot Topic. And everyone knows that Chuck Taylors aren’t comfortable (or broken in) until you rip out the rubber part at the heel. And on that note, it’s time to end!
Today I’m sharing a few pieces that I found while searching Net-a-porter.com, which is a great site for inspiration. I love looking at all of the pretty things!
1. Saint Laurent blouse – This top is amazing! I’m so in love, I am all about polka dots, and the black and white combo is classic and everlasting.
2. J Brand pants – I’m all about skinnies right now, and I have been dying for a pair of leather pants for a while now. This pair is just the ticket.
3. Balenciaga jacket – I’m a sucker for a biker jacket, and when I finally realized my dream about four years ago I was over the moon. This jacket is an updated take on the classic biker style and it exudes sass.
4. Jimmy Choo pumps – I love good old JC. And I have been fortunate enough to own a pair. Though my pair is not quite like this. The pink is a great lady like shade, but totally unexpected at the same time.
I just had to share these pieces. They are all so very in there own way. I love that the Spring stuff is starting to make an appearance. I can’t wait to share some new arrivals. And on that note, it’s time to end!
1. CK Leather Jacket 2. Asos White Midi Dress 3. DVF Wrap Dress 4. Equipment White blouse 5. Alexander McQueen Skull Scarf 6. Ann Taylor LOFT leather skirt 7. J. Crew Wool Trousers (Grey and Camel) 8. DVF Pencil Skirt 9. Jimmy Choo Flats 10. Manolo Blahnik pumps
With these ten pieces I’m taking my favourite basics to build upon. A little update if you will on your typical building blocks. I wanted to keep a little on the A/W side, being that we will all be bundled up in the next few weeks to months, depending upon your part of the country. Yes, get that pair of black trousers, and the perfect pair of dark wash denim. The quintessential LBD, and an oh so Jackie strand of pearls, maybe a navy blazer and a tasteful pair of diamond studs. And always get that perfectly tailored suit for those times you need a perfectly tailored suit. Then add in bitchin’ pieces pieces like a leather jacket (I scored mine on sale marked down to $99.99 from $499.99, a super steal!) and a silk scarf with attitude, like my Alexander McQueen skull scarf I found on sale for under $200 (they typically retail for $295+, emphasis on the plus)! Have updated classics like this newly acquired Equipment blouse (a perfect year round staple), Loft leather skirt (all the sass and edge one ensemble could possible ask for), and my J.Crew wool trousers, perfect cut for my petite frame and still very elegant and on trend! LWD is also a recent on trend option, I love my Asos midi dress for this! Dressed up or down, it fits the bill, it’s also a very versatile layering piece. When speaking of work wear a pencil skirt is always a win! I own several, but this royal blue DVF dream is my favourite. A wrap dress is the perfect day to evening transition. For work (with a cami people!) tasteful make up and accessories it rocks the office. Change up the shoes, jewelry and either a smokey eye or bold lip and you have evening wear gold. And last but certainly not least. Shoes! My faves are this pair of Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane pointy toe patent leather Fever pump, they are classic that are a force to be reckoned with. I was young 19 or so, I had received a bonus from working with my Father. And I went to Bergdorf Goodman with my now MIL. I wanted so desperately to buy a pair of expensive shoes. I looked and looked and looked some more. Each go round the full floor shoe department I found the Manolos. As soon as I put them on my feet I knew I was home, and that is where they would end up. I may have paid full price, and it may have been a silly thing to do, but when ever I wear these shoes I am still in love. As far as flats go my Jimmy Choo Jury flats are arguably the most comfortable and chic pair I have ever owned, perfect with trousers, skirts and dresses, even jeans for weekend! I even had my own Pretty Woman experience when I bought them… And on that note, it’s time to end!
