All around me are familiar faces, Worn out places, worn out faces…

I loved writing my first empties post so much that I decided to do another one.  I use a lot of products and I buy a lot too.  Last year I decided to use up a significant portion of my beauty stash.  I’m also hoping to only rebuy products that worked well for me.  I don’t want to spend a lot of money in the hopes that something might work, I’m way past that.  So over the past few months (so many months, this was supposed to be a quarterly feature) here are some of the products I’ve used up.  Some I love and others not so much.  Here are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy round two of empties.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple – My favourite gentle face wash.  It has a natural scent that is not over powering, over drying, or in anyway harsh.  I love this stuff and I like to keep a back up.

Philosophy Microdelivery – My favourite exfoliating face scrub.  It’s gentle exfoliation, lightly scented, and really works.  I also like to keep a back up of this around just in case.

Philosophy Miracle Worker  – I got a deluxe sample of this moisturizer and I generally liked it, I prefer HIAJ, over this.  I’m glad I tried it, and I love the brand, but this moisturizer was not for me.

Philosophy Hope in a Jar Eye – I got this a a point perk and I figured I would try it out.  I was using this with okay results, it’s your basic run of the mill eye cream, then I lost the top to the container, and it started to dry up, and it became balmy, I still used it all up.  I probably wouldn’t repurchase even though I am a big Philosophy fan to begin with.

Fresh Seaberry Restorative lotion – This lotion is of medium thickness, absorbs quickly and smells a little lemony.  I used this lotion for a while and even at the beginning of my pregnancy.  It is a bit expensive, but it is very worth it and lasted me a fairly long time.  I wish the price was better, because I really like this stuff.

Burt’s Bees Body Lotion – I got this lotion after I ran out of my Fresh body lotion.  I liked this because it was less expensive and there was no scent.  It is thick and absorbs well.  I decided not to repurchase once it was empty, and I got Cocoa Butter instead.

Mac Zoom Lash mascara – I got this as a sample expecting nothing.  I like how this mascara coats my lashes, separates, and defines them well.  But it melts and smears all over my eye area and that I am just not into.  I’m glad I didn’t spend any money on this mascara, because I am so moving on.

Nars Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base – This stuff is of miracles!  I love it so much, when I use it my eye shadow does not budge.  I’ve already repurchased and when I wear eye make up I don’t want to be with out it.

Benefit Benetint – I love this stuff, I have been using it for years.  It is a great multipurpose product, easily blendable as a blush, and buildable as a lippie.  It also smells divine.  I prefer the smaller deluxe sample size because the applicator brush is smaller and I feel I have more control when applying.

Fresh Seaberry Oil – This was my fifth bottle.  I can’t go on with out this HG oil.  I use it day and night, for my face moisturizer, on my elbows and knees too.  It is mid weight, absorbs quickly, and smells really nice.  I have been using it for almost two years now and I am so glad that I took the leap into face oils, because I am never going back.

Origins Clear Improvements Active Charcoal mask – I bought this in the hopes that it would replace my GlamGlow superMUD, but it in fact was not up to my standards.  It did not clear my pores as well, or keep my skin as tight.  I’m back to superMUD, even though its really expensive. (Not pictured because by “using it”, I really mean, I gave it to my Sister)

L’Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm – I was on the hunt for a new eye cream after my Fresh eye gels that I tried throughout last year.  I am so glad that I tried this one.  I really love it, it smells nice, has a great consistency, absorbs quickly, and lasts a long time.  I feel it’s reasonably priced, my crow’s feet are slowing, my dark circles are becoming a rarity, and my eye puffiness is less frequent.  I have a few deluxe samples to work my way through but I am really sold on this one.

Benefit Rollerlash – I got this as a deluxe sample, in the hopes of finding a less expensive alternative to Diorshow.  I’ve read a lot of reviews online about this mascara, and decided why not.  The consistency I feel is similar to Benefit They’re Real, but with that being said, this mascara doesn’t melt, flake, or give me raccoon eyes buy lunchtime, more like 3:30.  I feel the application is even, it coats my lashes well, and it’s reasonably priced.  I have a few more mascaras to work through, but right now, I generally like it.  I probably wouldn’t repurchase.

EOS lip balm – I finally finished (a lot of the way), the fruity one.  I wasn’t really into it.  It smelled nice, but I really love the sweet mint (which I am currently loving/using). The egg shaped container is really obnoxious, and not very portable.  Which is why I prefer the stick version.  The stick version broke about a week after I bought it.  I was super upset.  So I probably won’t buy either again after I use up all of my back up lip balm stash.

Clinique Perfectly Real Make Up – I have been using this foundation for years now, I have not found a reason to switch.  It is a lightweight, medium yet buildable coverage that last all day.  I prefer to use either my Beauty Blender or a foundation brush for my application.

Chanel No. 5 – I have been wearing the Eau De Parfum for years now.  I can not get enough of it.  It really is the best smelling perfume I have ever worn.  Yes, the price can be steep, but I don’t wear a lot of it, and the scent lasts all day.  I haven’t found another perfume that smells as great or better one me.  I have no reason to ever wear anything else.

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo – I have been using this dry shampoo for a few years now, and I love it.  It’s very reasonably priced and it works really well.  I recommend this dry shampoo to everyone.

Sephora Collection Express Cleansing Wipes – These are probably the best make up removing wipes I have ever used.  They are durable, gentile, have a light clean scent, and can take off a face full of make up with ease.  They also don’t leave any residue.  I am sold, I always try to keep a back up so I don’t run out.

EOS Shave Cream – I don’t normally use shave cream, but my Mother gave this to me for Christmas, so I decided that I should try it.  I really like it, it smells nice, “lathers” well, and I find it gave me good results.  It’s not that expensive so I may repurchase in the future.

Nars Satin Lip Pencil – I got this as part of my Sephora birthday gift last year.  I started to use Rikugien first, it is a rose shade.  And I really love it.  I don’t know if I would rebuy for two reasons: I have to sharpen this pencil, which I know is part of life, but it’s not great when I’m trying to get portability out of it.  And It doesn’t last as long after it’s applied like the lipsticks from the brand do, which I can eat, drink, and go for most of my day with out having to reapply.  With this lip pencil this is not the case.

Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial – I got this mask as a deluxe sample, and thought since I’m trying to use up my beauty stash, why not use up my samples too!  I wasn’t expecting a whole lot, because I’ve never tried the brand before.  Let me just start with the scent, because it is strong.  It smells like roses which I really enjoy, but if you don’t enjoy that aroma, steer clear, because after about twenty minutes it was still strong.  The texture was like butter, so soft and creamy, and my skin just drunk it right up.  After leaving the mask on all night I awoke to radiant, supple, brighter and well hydrated skin, and that was just after one application.  I was pleasantly surprised and I think this may be an option I may pick up in the future.

Dove Antiperspirant Deodorant Original Clean – I have been using this deodorant for many years now,  and I really like it a lot.  It has a very light clean scent, it goes on smooth, and for a normal, work day, it holds up.  During the dog days of summer, or maybe some strenuous activities you may need to reapply.  Some times I mix it up with a fruity scent, but I always go back to the clean scent.  I also enjoy that I can snag a two pack, or multi-packs from places like Wal-Mart, Target, or Sam’s Club.

Drybar Texas Tea Volumizing Spray – I got this as part of the set when I got my Buttercup  blow dryer in 2014, it took me a long time to use this, mainly because this winter I chilled way out and I haven’t been styling my hair as often.  But now that it’s getting longer again I am doing more blow outs.  I probably wouldn’t repurchase this spray as it’s just okay, I feel there are better options that are less expensive, and also don’t smell like booze, much like the other Texas Tea products do.

Sephora Collection Instant Eye Makeup Remover – I got this last Autumn, after using up the Lancome eye makeup remover I got from a GWP.  I like it, I feel it’s a basic eye makeup remover.  I think I will try the waterproof version, just because sometimes some of my more stubborn makeup won’t come of when I use this stuff.

I hope everyone enjoyed this round of empties.  I decided to share them on a quarterly basis instead of monthly so that I actually had some time to accumulate some.  I’m looking forward to using up a lot of my make up stash this year.  I mentioned before that I would be repurchasing what has worked for me in the past, and products that I really liked from last year, and items I have yet to try this year that I have already purchased.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,

Look at you, kids, with your vintage music….

I have been away for a while, mainly because the transition into motherhood has been a challenge, meaning it’s the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life.  I have also been adjusting to my new position as Branch Supervisor at work.

But the reason we have gathered here today is to speak about the Sephora VIB sale.  I carefully curated my order for several days.  I mainly went with products I’ve used before, with a couple of new buys.

  1. Rosebud Salve – I went with the minted version after three tins of regular.  I love everything mint and I am hoping this is no different.
  2. Clinique Take Off the Day Cleansing Balm – I tried a deluxe sample of this and I love it! It really melts away my makeup. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a full size.
  3. Boscia Luminizing Mask – I have been looking for a new clearing mask for awhile now, GlamGlow SuperMud is no longer cutting it for me. I’m excited to try this because it’s a peel off mask.
  4. Shishiedo Sun Screen – I used the wet force version last summer or I should say my Husband did, and I needed some more, I’m looking forward to trying this version.
  5. Sephora Makeup Remover – I really like this product I’ve been using it for a while now, I feel it works well and it’s a great value for the money.
  6. Clarisonic Repalcement heads – I have been using the delicate brushes for a few years now and I feel they work well for my sensitive skin.  The sensitive brushes were too harsh, I’m glad I switched.
  7. L’Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm – I have used a ton of different eye creams and gels and this is the one.  It’s “balmy” and delicate, the scent is light and the moisturizing power is top notch.
  8. Clinique Mascara – I used this mascara before, I liked it, it was a basic tubular formula. I went back mainly for the price and I’m hoping round two is enjoyable.
  9. First Aid Beauty Moisturizer – I’ve never used this branch before but I have been wanting to try this. Since giving birth my skin is no longer the same and I’m hoping going back to a more traditional moisturizer will help.

That rounds out my Sephora order, I went with a light order, I tend to go big with the Autumn sale.  I’m looking forward to getting my order in the next few days.

I’m hoping to get back into posting on a more regular basis, it’s been an interesting few months and everyday has been a journey, an amazing crazy journey.  And on that note it’s time to end!

All for now,

Kiki

Putting on my make up…

After my hair tutorial and how much fun I had doing it, I decided to give it another go!  This time round we are focusing on make up.  I decided in regards to make up it is probably best to start with an everyday look.

No make up.

I always start with a clean, moisturized face.  In the morning I wash with Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser, then moisturize with Fresh Seaberry Oil.  Here I am pre make up.  My skin isn’t too bad.  I have been using Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil at night and I think it is making a big difference!  I haven’t been having as many blemishes.  And if I do get one, they aren’t sticking around as long as they used to.  I’ve also noticed that my fine lines and crow’s feet aren’t getting worse.

Beauty Blender

My first step is Primer my go to is Benefit POREfessional.  I have been using it for years and works wonders for me.  I let that set for a moment before moving on to foundation.  I apply my Clinique Perfectly Real foundation with a moistened Beauty Blender.  I “stipple” my foundation on, it gives a flawless, air brushed look, and I don’t need a lot of product to get great results.

If I need to cover a blemish, or dreaded dark circles I turn to Benefit Erase Paste which I apply with a Sephora Brand Concealer Brush (similar) then I blend with my middle or ring finger (which ever is convenient at the time).  For this look my skin ended up being nice, and I didn’t end up needing to cover any blemishes, I was pretty happy about that!

Powder

I then use a setting powder, recently it’s been Besame Violet Brightening Powder with a big fluffy face brush.  The one I use is also from Sephora Classic Uniform Complexion Brush (similar).

Afterwards I move on to blush.  I almost exclusively use Nars Orgasm.  And I have been for years.  It’s the perfect peachy pink with the perfect amount of shimmer.  I use a MAC powder brush (similar).

Eyeshadow

Next up is eyes I start with Nars Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base, then I sweep MAC Shroom all over my lids. I use Nars Wide Contour Eye Shadow Brush (part of the And God Created the Woman Kit), for the rest of my shadows I go between Nars, MAC, or Lancome.  For this look I am using the Nars And God Created the Eye palette.  I use Coconut Grove to cut my crease and  Night Clubbing as my liner, with a Sephora Angled Liner Brush.  I finish with a mascara right now I am using Lancome Definicils Mascara, which is a basic black.

Lippie

I finish my look with a lippie, I change up my lips dependent upon my mood.  For this look I am using MAC Viva Glam V which is a lovely pearly pink shade.  This is one of those “my lips but better shade” and I am all about it!

Finished look

And that is my typical routine.  I have it down to about fifteen minutes, which is pretty good in my book.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,

Title from: Off To the Races by LDR

Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end…

For those of you who frequent Breakfast @ Kiki’s then you know I am obsessed with skincare and beauty products.  And I almost exclusively shop at Sephora, yes, there is the occasional drug store find, gift, or exclusive department store splurge.  And I try to keep it to a minimum (who I am kidding, I made Rouge in April!).  But in all seriousness, this is a post I have been wanting to put up for a while now.  Over on the Sephora message boards (Beauty Talk) there is a thread about empties, a lot of patrons (Beauty Talkers, BTers for short) go through what they’ve used on a monthly basis and talk about what they liked and didn’t.  This thread is one of my favourites.  I’m addicted to reading about what everyone has used and their thoughts.  I love reading reviews, especially before trying something new.  And I feel as though I can’t write a helpful review until you’ve trialed a product for at least a couple weeks.  So I thought I’d share some of the products that I’ve used up recently. So here goes!

Empties:

Lotus Youth Preserve Eye Gel – Fresh – Okay, I liked the smell and how cooling it was, but even with the smallest amount of product, it made my eyes tear.  I’ve moved on to L’Occitane.

Translucent Pressed Powder – Shisiedo – Easy to use, convenient size, reusable compact, not long lasting, I think I went through it in about a month.  Will continue to search.  I just started using Besame Violet powder (which smells divine, BTW) and have had good results so far.

Texas Tea Shampoo – Drybar – Smells like booze, does not lather, and I don’t feel like my hair is clean, I’m sticking with my tried and true Pantine.

Texas Tea Conditioner – Drybar – Also smells like booze, not very thick, I also don’t feel like it’s conditioning anything, again sticking with Pantine.

Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover – Lancome – Good basic eye makeup remover, I got this as a deluxe sample, I’m sure I can find a less expensive alternative.  I just started Sephora brand and so far it’s working well.

Visionnaire – Lancome – I got this deluxe a long time ago, and I loved it.  Then I went on the great Visionnare  search of 2015, early this year, only to splurge on full size and hate it.  I’ve since moved on to Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil, and I’ve fallen hard.

Sensitive Brush Head – Clarisonic – I started with the sensitive head, I think it’s too harsh, switching to the delicate head, we’ll see how that goes.

Seaberry Oil – Fresh – I love this stuff, I can’t get enough.  I use it all year round.  This was my second bottle.  I also use it as a moisturizer and on my elbows an knees when they get dry in the winter months.

Eudermine Revitalizing Essence – Shisiedo – I feel this is a basic toner, with that being said the smell is amazing, it is refreshing and the bottle is drop dead gorgeous!

Face Finishing Moisturizer – Perricone MD – I got this deluxe sample as a point perk, and I’m not impressed.  I don’t like the smell, it feels heavy on the face, the consistency feels a bit balmy, and I feel like it makes my skin red and blotchy.  Not for me.

Bad Gal mascara – Benefit -This mascara made my lashes look amazing, but then it melted and I had raccoon eyes… Very annoying, it’s not gone, but I’m trying something else.

Definicils Mascara – Lancome – I was first introduced to this mascara as a teenager, my Mom had a GWP and she doesn’t wear a lot of make up so she gave it to me.  I feel like it’s a solid basic mascara, it coats my lashes well, it doesn’t clump too bad, and it doesn’t smudge terribly.  It’s also really easy to remove.  It’s not the best, but it’s not the worst.  My one big downside: I feel the product dries in the tube super quickly.  I may be exaggerating slightly, but I just opened a deluxe sample mid November, and by the end of November, it was completely dry by the end of the month.  But if I’m going to spend the money, I’d rather spend it on Diorshow.

Daily Moisturizing Lotion – Aveeno – I have been using this lotion on and off for the past few years.  It is very thick and it hydrates well.  I prefer it during the winter months when my skin is moist dry.  I feel like I get a good value for the price.  It has a pump, but my bottle fell and it broke off, so I found that to be annoying, even though it was totally my fault.

Dry Nail Drying Spray – Formula X – I bought this spray because I do my nails myself and I hate waiting for them to dry.  I really wanted to like this spray, but I don’t think it works well for me.  I have already switched to the Nail Drying Drops and I like them much better.

Express Wipes – Sephora – I love these make up remover wipes, they take everything off!  When I am really lazy and I don’t feel like washing my face these are a go to.  They are reasonably priced, smell nice, and when I say they take all of my make up off I am not kidding.

Pro-Prime Light Optimizing Primer – Nars – I got a sample of this primer a few years back.  And I loved it.  I decided to revisit it mid this year, and I was not impressed.  I don’t think that it was nearly as good as my sample.  I’m sticking with Benefit POREfessional.

Complexion Rescue – BareMinerals – I tried this after my summer time love affair with Shisiedo’s BB cream.  My intent was to find something cheaper.  Yes, this is cheaper and the shade matched decently to my colouring, but I don’t really like it.  I fell like it melts off, oxidizes a lot, and I feel like I need to wear a ton of it just to get my skin tone even.  For the winter I went back to my tried and true Clinique foundation.

Perfectly Real Makeup – Clinique – This is my go to foundation.  I have been using it for years and I have had very good results.  I try to keep a couple of backups just in case.  I feel that the price is good for the quality, and it takes me at least 1-2 months to get through a bottle.  I haven’t had a reason to switch, I really like this foundation.

Ceramic Slip Cleanser – Sunday Riley – Sample from Sephora, I got this to try on a whim.  I only had enough for one try, I can’t say how I feel either way after using, but it is out of my price range for now.

Master Cleanse Daily Brush Cleanser – Sephora – I use this everyday to decontaminate my concealer and foundation brushes.  I like this product a lot and I have been using it for a few years now.

Old and Gross:

Makeup Forever Lipstick #9 – The colour and formula were great, but it started to smell a bit weird so it’s time for it to go.  I may repurchase in the future.

Clinique Lipstick Black Honey – A perfect sheer berry, it’s supposed to be universally flattering.  I really liked it, this was my second tube.  I may repurchase.

Clinique Lipstick Angel Red – This shade is beautiful, more of a blue red, but again it began to smell funny.  I probably won’t repurchase.

Nars Eye and Lip palette from 2008 or 2009 (I don’t remember) – This was the best thing since sliced bread in my just getting into the high end makeup world circa 2007-2008.  It had four lip colours, four eye shadows and two multiples.  This is where I was introduced to Ondine eye shadow, a plum colour in perfect complement to my green eyes, Nightclubbing eye shadow, black with gold glitter, great for a smokey eye or liner.  I also met lip faves like Dolce Vita, a dusty rose, and my beloved Gipsy, a sheer berry red.  Anyway, this palette was so old and gross that the outside of it was sticky… It should have been tossed long ago and therefore it is not pictured.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,
-Kiki

Your eyes are the size of the moon…

So my Sephora order has arrived and I am super stoked!  I could not wait to use Wen, which was the reason for my order, I got this set, I started with the Fig Cleansing Conditioner, I figured I’m not a big fig person so I’ll use it first.  I followed the instructions sort of, it says for short hair to use 10-16 pumps for short hair and that seemed really excessive, so I went with 5 for my first wash and 2 for m second.  After my shower I towel dried my hair and then sprayed my trusty Bumble and Bumble Invisible Hairdresser’s Oil Primer and blew my bangs dry.  My bangs dry really weird so I prefer to blow dry them unless I plan to pin them back.  And after my first use, my hair feels softer, and a bit lighter.  I plan to chronicle my journey using Wen so stay tuned!

I decided since I was going ALL out and spending $300.00+ on beauty and hair care again that it was time to finally try Nars Audacious Annabella, once I saw the tube I was hooked, I purposely didn’t try it because right now it’s just too pretty to ruin!  I’m really, really into the 50s and 60s right now, and I think this colour will be perfect to channel those old school looks!

I ordered a new small barrel round brush to aid in blow drying my newly acquired bangs, using my current brushes are not really working out well, so I order this Sephora collection one to try.  I used it tonight to blow dry my bangs, and I am very happy with the results, and it wasn’t to expensive at $18.

I ordered this Shiseido pressed powder, I’m hoping that it will be a good replacement for my current Nars powder foundation that was expensive and I feel is just okay.  I think the Nars was just okay for a couple reasons.  I think the colour was a bit off for me.  I went with Mont Blanc, and I think I needed a lighter shade.  I think with the condition that my face was in didn’t help either, it’s starting to sit better now, but if I have a blemish with flaky dry skin then it starts to look bad.  And towards the end of the day my face starts to change colour, like it oxidizes, which is annoying.  I know now that Nars and expensive is not always better, I was spoiled with my previous pressed powder (Chanel Peach Tendre).  So I went the translucent route this time, we’ll see how it goes.

I also picked up Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, the product information says it’s the best of a BB and a CC cream.  Now I love my Shiseido BB, but it’s expensive, and there are only three shades, and the light shade is a little off for me, so I decided to try something else.  I read a lot of reviews and I decided to go with this one.  It’s offered in more shades, is a bigger size for less money, and is a brand I am familiar with.

I started to run low on my beloved Bumble and Bumble Invisible Hairdresser’s Oil Primer, which is kind of expensive, so I went with Prep this time round.  It smells nice and I’m excited to try it.

I bit the bullet and invested in Tweerzerman cuticle nippers, J recently broke ours, in his defense we bought them at Wal-Mart and the quality wasn’t there.  I tried them (I get hang nails like crazy!) And I am very impressed, after nipping a few things here and there I am very happy with my $30 investment.  Now I just hope that J doesn’t break them on me…I also picked up some old favourites: Benefit POREfessional, my go to Clinique foundation, Philosophy Purity and Microdelivery.  As always once I finish what I am currently using I will start reviewing my new products, so bear with me please!  And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,

So pray little Kay, love is just God on a good day…

So it has been a trying couple of days… And today was no exception.  I fought back frustration and nervous breakdowns as best as I could.  All in all I am super glad that I am home and relaxing.  I definitely needed it.  I kind of feel like a whole bottle of scotch (Glennfiddich, please) or a shopping spree, speaking off which (just keep reading, you’ll see)!

In other exciting news I broke my promise to myself and I ordered more stuff from Sephora.  I promised myself after m llast ordered that I would not re-buy or try new things that I would hold off until September when I am eligible for my Nars birthday gift (I am so stoked about it BTW).  But I just hit working at my job and for that tenure you are awarded an extra $150 (taxed of course) but even still!  So I relapsed in a big way and dropped 300+ I did replace some items that I am running out of and wanted to get full size (pressed powder, purity/microdelivery, primer, foundation) and some new things (Nars Audacious Annabelle {I can’t wait} and Wen).  I have been wanting to try Wen since I first heard about it several years ago.  I was always apprehensive (and for good reason this stuff is expensive as hell!), but my mother recently tried her set that I got from my last order and it completely changed her hair (which is very similar to mine).  So I was watching QVC Sunday afternoon (as one does when feeling crummy) and I decided since I was getting a little extra money that I wasn’t counting on I just went for it.  I also picked up Bumble and Bumble Prep, I love, love, love the Hairdresser’s Oil Primer, but this is cheaper and seems similar (we’ll see), a small barrel round brush to aid in blow drying my bangs (when I use my bigger brush my bangs end up looking ridiculous!), Bare Minerals BB cream, it’s cheaper and a bigger size than Shiseido and is a mix of BB and CC and I am excited to try it!  I also picked up Tweerzerman cuticle nippers, it was a big time splurge ($30) but if they are as good quality and J won’t break them, then I think it was worth it!  I should be receiving my order tomorrow and I plan to use the newly acquired Wen.  I plan to document my time using the product so stay tuned! And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,

Title from: You Won’t Know by Brand New

Lay down the law, don’t change your style…

As I mentioned last week (Here) and (Here) I so took advantage of the VIB event and I made Rouge! Well my order arrived yesterday and here is the breakdown of what I received. I mainly got new items to try and I think this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

Shiseido essence and BB cream – The essence will hopefully replace Lancome Visionnaire, my deluxe sample I tried was amazing, it worked like a dream, however the full size (at $79.00) left much to be desired. I also gave it time, almost two months of morning and night use. The BB cream is something I wanted to try for a while. I purposely read a lot of reviews on a lot of BB creams and this one and Origins were at the top of my try list. Shisiedo won this time, it was a dollar cheaper, and the reviews were a little better. I’m excited to try it for the summer months when it really gets hot.

Besame violet brightening powder – I felt like trying something different, and the packaging made me swoon, we’ll see once I try it, I’m keeping and open mind.

Formula X The Match CLIX – I had been eyeing the Butter London High Tea set and by the time I placed my order it was sold out! I came a cross this set of mini polishes and decided to go for it. The Formula X polishes are decent and the colours were similar to the original set I wanted and the price point was affordable. I used the neutral shade, invincible, it’s the perfect nude.

Butter London Tops and Tails kit – Speaking of Butter London, I picked up this mini base and top coat set, I needed to replace both of my current items, (I’m running low on base and I don’t really care for my current top coat) and I thought I’d give this set a go. I’m looking forward to trying this set since I am currently obsessed with polishing my nails! (More on this soon, I promise!)

Beauty Blender set – I have been wanting to see what all the hype is about and the VIB event was the perfect opportunity to try them out, and if I can rotate the sponges weekly I will possibly end up saving money on make up sponges! I call that a win!

Philosophy Hope in a Jar and Fresh Start Cleansing duo – My Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve cream is just about gone and even though I do really enjoy it, I decided that the price point is just a bit too high for something I use twice a day. I was originally going to try the FAB cream, but I read as many reviews on a lot of face creams and I settled on HiaJ. I already love philosophy’s body wash/bubble bath/shampoo three in one, the price is great and the scents are darling (Even Husband enjoys them!). I’m Also trying Purity face wash and Microdelivery exfoliator, (once my drugstore Neutrogena Naturals is gone) I’m interested to see how well they work, as I have read predominately good things.

Benefit Sizzling Six set (no longer available at Sephora) – I love that Benefit comes out with these little sample sets. For the price of one full size item, you can try a bunch and not feel guilty that you broke the bank on trying a bunch of new stuff, then purchase your full size faves (Says the girl who made Rouge in April).

I also picked up another foundation, because even though I am closer to thirty than I’d like to admit, I still break out like I am fourteen and I hate to be with out foundation. Maybe my new products will help me on my journey to clear skin. I also picked up the Wen travel size set for my Mom, it did not arrive as advertised so it will be going back and hopefully I can get a correct set for her. Be on the look out for reviews as I start opening things up, I always buy in advance, so I don’t run out, so bear with me! And on that note it’s time to end!

All for now,
Kiki
