Like my lipstick, the color of dawn…

As I did last year I’m going to share some of my favourite beauty products from 2016. This is a little late going up, being that it’s now the end of January, but better late than never! This year I didn’t splurge too much, I stuck to a lot of what I know, so with that being said, I took the time to use up samples and look for less expensive alternatives to established faves.

1. Fresh Sugar Face Polish – I got this as part of the spa discovery trio, and I only recently opened this scrub. I found a refreshing scent, a gentle exfoliate, and a skin master. My skin looks great after using this scrub, not that I was surprised!

2. Burt’s Bees BB Cream – When I read that Burt’s Bees was releasing a BB I knew I had to try it! And I found myself loving it. All the essentials are there, the coverage is buildable, the formula light, the colour match great! And the best part is the price, I have spent a lot of money in the search of a great BB, and it can be found at your local Target!

3. Bobbi Brown Eye Cream – This is my first Bobbi Brown product experience and it’s not going to be the last, as I am with most eye creams, I don’t expect much going in, but this is right up there with L’Occatain Immortel Eye Balm.

4. Josie Maran Argan Oil – If there is one thing I love, it’s a face oil, I got this as a point perk from Sephora and in between switching up my skin care I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised, it’s a lightweight, well aborsbing oil, there’s no scent which is also nice, and it’s a little less expensive in comparison to my Fresh Seaberry oil, and there is also a jumbo size.

5. John Freida Sea Waves – very similar to the original from the late 90s early 00s. It enhances my natural waves and give great texture, all for a whole hell of a lot less than Bumble and Bumble Sea Salt Spray. And a lot more nostalgic for me too.

6. NARS Cruella – I’ve always been a red lippie sort of gal, but I, like many struggled to find the right shade and the confidence to pull it off. I have always been team NARS and this is no different. It’s rich deep red with a huge colour pay off, I rarely find myself reapplying. And I love this shade for Autumn/Winter, when deeper matte reds are in order.

7. Earthmama Angelbaby Nipple butter – about 6 months into my pregnancy there was a lot going on with my body, one strange thing that happened was my nipples were so dry that they were flaking.  Regular body lotion and cocoa butter did not work, this was the only product that did the trick. Also great for use on your elbows to smooth them.

8. Bumble and Bumble Invisible Hairdresser’s Oil Shampoo and Conditioner – I got both as a point perk and finally decided to try them, that was a mistake, because I love them and they are expensive! They both smell great, the shampoo makes my hair feel really clean, while the conditioner leaves my hair really soft and manageable. I prefer to use them before a blowout.

9. Water – Legit just drinking a shit ton of water. During this year alcohol and coffee were kept to ridiculously low minimums, and rightfully so, and water stepped up in a big way! Once I calculated how many ounces of water I drank and is was triple digits. It was summer and really hot.

10. Fresh lip balm – I got this as part of a holiday set I got at last year’s VIB Rouge sale and I freaking love it! I didn’t want to because of its steep for what it is price tag and because I have a million EOS lip balm eggs, but I will repurchase in the future. I love the lemony scent, you don’t find that with many Fresh products.

I’m looking forward to work through a lot of my beauty stash again this year and focus on skin care.  I’m looking forward to a healthier 2017, and little by little I will share my skin care and wellness progress.  And on that note it’s time to end!

All for now,

I’m your little scarlet, starlet, singin’ in the garden…

I may be jumping the gun a bit, but I was checking out Net-A-Porter the other night and I came across this adorable dress, and I thought it’s never to early to start thinking about red, white, and blue ensembles.  It’s one of my favourite colour combinations.  Redwhiteblue

I clearly can’t wait for Spring, and this dress is just darling.  I can’t wait to but out all of my sun dresses, this one, or something similar may make it’s way into my closet.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,

I keep my lips red to seem like cherries in the spring…

Yes, it’s that time again!  Sephora haul time!  Yay!  I know I should be focusing on the holidays at this point, but Sephora was having a 20% off coupon code for VIB Rouge and there were a few things I had been waiting for a coupon code to get like the Drybar Dirty Martini set, and the Fresh holiday sets (I was only able to grab one).  I stocked up on old faves like Philosophy Purity and Microdelivery, Sephora brand make up remover wipes, Nars Ondine eye shadow and Nars Eye shadow base.  I found a brush set on sale for (which has some brushes that I don’t have.  I know, how is that even possible?).  I found a new pencil sharpener (I seem to have lost the one I had),  which did not arrive with the rest of my order!  I’m a little ticked off, but I rarely have issues with Sephora and their customer service is impeccable, so I’m not too worried about it.  I picked up a new mascara, I went with Urban Decay (it’s tubular so maybe it won’t smudge, I’ve been having issues with smudging lately), I rounded out my order with Sephora brand lip liner (I’ve been experiencing some feathering with my lipstick), and the Butter London Apothecary set (I’ve been really into nail care and this brand, lately).  I decided to get the Bobbi Brown 500 point perk.

On a whim I picked up this brush set, it was on sale for under $40 and I figured why not, a few of my older brushes should be replaced and there were a few in here that I didn’t have.  The case is nice, the brushes are decent, and for the price you really can’t go wrong.  And for the brushes that I do heave, there is nothing wrong with getting back ups.

I was in the market for a new mascara, while I am using up some deluxe samples that I had around from previous purchases.  I still haven’t found a mascara that I love more than Diorshow, but it’s very expensive.  So I picked up Urban Decay Cannonball, it’s waterpoof and tubular, so I hope it fits the bill.  I also picked up more Nars Smudge Proof Eye Shadow Base, which I love and I am almost out of my deluxe sample size from And God Created the Woman eye kit.

I also picked up Nars Ondine single shadow, which is a big fave in my world.  It’s a great plum colour and it makes my green eyes pop.  I used to wear it all of the time.  I can’t wait to start bringing it back into my make up routine.
I also picked up Sephora brand Universal Lip Liner.  As I mentioned I have been having feathering issues with my lippies.  So I thought I might try a lip liner, and I figured I’d start with a universal before branching out to colour matching.

One of the reasons for my purchase during the VIB Rouge sale was to pick up Fresh Holiday sets.  I was only able to get one, but I’m glad I did!  Not only do I get to enjoy old faves like Soy Cleanser, Seaberry Oil and Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask, but I get to try the Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment (which is full size)!  I also stocked up on Philosophy Purity Cleanser and Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash, because I can’t get enough of this stuff.

The other reason for my purchase was the Dirty Martini set from Drybar.  I was blown away (pun intended) with the quality of my Buttercup blow dryer that I got last year.  And I thought to myself, if a professional quality curling iron is half as good as my dryer than it is worth paying a little more.  I tried this bad boy out today and it heated up in about a minute, and I was floored.  I love how easy it is to use.  I am definitely a Drybar convert!

The Dirty Martini set comes with a full size Mai Tai Spritzer sea salt spray and Triple Sec dry shampoo.  Both products I have been wanting to try.  I’m so glad I spent $14 more to get the set (over the price of just the iron).  I haven’t yet used the products, when I do I’ll share my thoughts.

I have been eyeing this Butter London Apothecary set for a while now.  I love, love, love this brand.  I feel the quality is very good and the price points for sets are very reasonable.  I am already familiar with the Flawless Nail Base and the PD Quick Top Coat.  I am most excited to try the matte top coat and the cuticle oil.

I got the Bobbi Brown 500 point perk.  Bobbi Brown is a brand that I hear a lot of good things about, but I have never tried.  I thought a point perk was a great opportunity to try the brand.

The samples I got with this order were pretty cool!  A lot of times I’m not so interested in the perfume samples, and sometimes there over offered.  FAB is a sleeping cream and Giorgio Armani is a foundation, but the real winner is the Dior Addict lipstick.  It’s four lipstick samples, and it came with a little mini lip brush.  The colours seem pretty wearable too.

This is probably going to but my last big beauty buy of the year.  With that being said, I think I have enough to last me though until Sephora’s next coupon code.  I may have some small purchases to make here and there, but I’m pretty much stocked up.  And of course once I start using up the new stuff I’ll share my thoughts.  And on that note, it’s time to end.

All for now,
