Like the stars miss the sun in the morning sky…

Yeah, I got that “Summertime Sadness”, it’s sad but very true, summer is just about over.  You can kick, scream and it won’t do any good.  I am a summer baby, and the tide shaped my soul.  But even I have to admit it’s time to let it go.  This summer was spent sleeping in on weekends, a few BBQs and one hiking trip.  No getaways, no beach days or boat rides.  My summer ensembles showcased, without their intended activities.

I know the summer is over once I begin to receive mailings and emails to spend money for a percentage off or GWP for my birthday month.  Let me just say I have been waiting all year for my Nars birthday gift from Sephora!

And as we look forward to Autumn and all the joys and opportunities that it brings, I start to remember.  Warm apple cider on a cool day, cashmere sweaters, combat boots, trench coats, long sleeves, and deeper colours, pumpkin pie (and all other possible things pumpkin), fires inside, scary movies on Halloween, and my favourite Thanksgiving!  And then I don’t feel so bad.  And on that note, it’s time to end.

All for now,

Pocket full of nursery rhymes…

This weekend was spent saying good bye to my desk mate of nearly two years, hanging with the rents and working on content.  Friday night J, my Sister and I hung out with some of my work peeps at Mirabella’s in Saugerties.  We went for a drink or two and we had a great time!  It was sad saying goodbye, but other than that it was fun.

Saturday was spent hanging with my parents, and so grocery shopping (which just so happens to be one of my least favourite forms of shopping), thank God I was heavily caffeinated!

Sunday was another afternoon spent hanging with the rents and my Sister.  We came bearing raviolis.  We (and by we I mean my Sister) fried and made some sauce for a nice afternoon snack.  I tried to beat my Mother’s solitaire score of 1:10 ( a minute, ten seconds).  It’s always nice to have a weekend off, even if I don’t accomplish a lot.  Which is exactly what happened.  There is always this week and upcoming weekend!  And on that note, it’s time to end.

Through the fire, we’re born again

August has flown by, not that I am too surprised by that.  It’s been a trying month, and the next few months will be much of the same.  So I’ve rounded up my favourite things from August and I’d like to share them.  Okay, here goes!

1. High By The Beach by Lana Del Rey – LDR’s lead single off her upcoming Honeymoon (out September 18th!) It’s true to LDR form, a little jazzy, a little bluesy, a little crazy, and all good.  And the video is badass… guns, explosions, the ocean.  This song has been stuck in my head for days.  I also love that she drew parallels from previous songs like she’s coming full circle.

2. Lipstick – Now that there is an end date in sight for my treatment I have been rocking my favourite lipsticks.  Move over stains the “Lipstick Queen” is showing off her lippie collection!  My favourites include MAC Viva Glam VI, Nars Gipsy, and Makeup Forever No.9.

3. Transitional Wardrobe – Before we know it, it will be time for longer sleeves and hem lines.  The air will turn brisk, the leaves change colour, only to fall, and so will my wardrobe.  Breaking out my transitional pieces is always fun for me!  I love Autumn, it’s definitely my favourite season, and I am pretty much the poster child for A/W fashions.  Sweaters and chinos are an easy must, while dresses and opaque tights are amazing.

I kept the list short and sweet this month, it’s still hard for me to believe that it’s over.  I’m looking forward to September and all it brings including my 27th birthday mid month!  And on that note, it’s time to end.

All for now,

Got the Ferris Bueller blues…

Today, a Wednesday, late August, pleasantly warm, surprising as we are now well into the “dog days” of summer.  And I had a fairly easy day at work, which is always refreshing.  During these last few weeks of summer I am known to live in my sundresses, today was no exception, I went with my Betsey Johnson blue dress, it’s definitely one of the more wearable pieces of hers that I have seen in recent memory.  When it comes to my hair, make up and accessories, I tend to keep them as simple as possible during the summer.  I like a more “natural” look, covering what I need to and enhancing the better features.

This dress is just a great Summer staple, it’s a nice weight linen, with white ribbon trim and a ruffle hem.  I think I picked it up from the Betsey Johnson in Woodbury in 2008, I can’t believe that this dress has held up this long, but I’m glad it did.  Today I paired my vintage gold belt and Jimmy Choo flats (another Woodbury find).

Betsey Johnson is one of thouse designers that is just crazy, and I mean that in the best way possible!  Whether it’s a crazy print, tulle upon tulle upon tulle, or the cartwheels she does to close every show, she just has an amazing perception on what women’s fashion is and I hope that never goes away!  And on that note, it’s time to end!

[A] smile on my face and an air guitar rocking…

Today was the perfect “lazy Sunday”.  I actually woke up at a normal hour, I then had some coffee, because let’s face it I am a caffeine addict.  I washed dishes, did three loads of laundry, showered blew my hair out, and polished my nails.  The rest of the day has been spent watching Quali, it’s Spa people, this race is awesome!  And surfing the net… I mainly fell into the trap that is Pinterest, and took silly, yet super important quizzes on Buzzfeed.  If you can guess all of the lyrics to “Sadie Hawkins Dance” by Relient K (here)then maybe we can be friends…  Because I got 100% without cheating, and I felt very fulfilled afterwards.

I’ve also been planning out some ensemble for this week.  I have a busy one, one of my office mates is moving on at the end of the week, I should hear about the job that I interviewed for and I’m hoping for some fun posts to go up that I have been working on!  And on that note, it’s time to end.

All for now,
