Lights, camera, action…

So I received my new camera this week (same as the old one), this time with a 64 GB SD card (which I am still waiting to arrive).  I also got the remote for J’s camera, so I can set up the tripod and not bother him to take pictures of me all the time!  Little by little my pictures are getting better, and it’s getting easier to edit them with what J has taught me about photoshop.  I’m hopeful that I won’t loose this camera and I can get back to sharing ensembles and my activities (such a fun word to say, ac-tivi-ties) {sorry, #litnerd}.  And I received my camera just in the nick of time, my capsule challenge ends this week!  And on that note, it’s time to end!

Palm trees in the light…

Today officially ends my capsule challenge (I know, this month flew by!), and I have to say it was really fun.  I really wish my SD card arrived so I could take some photos of my ensembles this week!  But alas it hasn’t arrived yet…  Mixing and matching to come up with new ensemble ideas is always really fun.  I feel like I didn’t get to wear all of the ensembles that I originally intended to, I also wasn’t planning on getting sick half way through either.  I will say this challenge has been really fun, and the only thing I feel as though I learned from the experience is that I can totally do way more with way less.  Something that I never would have believed prior to starting.  I don’t feel as though it changed any current path I was on.  I had already planned to downsize my wardrobe and only replace with quality well made items.   I may continue on over the next couple weeks with some of the ensembles I planned, but didn’t get a chance to wear (with some #OOTDs I swear).

I am also leaning toward a A/W capsule challenge.  But this time I am thinking about being more strict, less options to encourage more mixing and matching.  Stay tuned on that one, I’m thinking in a few months trying again.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

This tune could be a reminder, of how it all used to be…

My way late to the game Nordstrom Anniversary Sale order has finally arrived!  (YAY!)  The whole reason for my temptation was I really needed a few new bras (yes, a necessary evil, of being a woman).  I prefer Calvin Klein T-Shirt Bras for everyday.  They are very comfortable (all things considered), soft, durable, and have just the right amount of padding (very little), underwire, he whole nine {#bustygalprobs}.  I ordered two, one smoke and one nude colour called sanctuary.

I then found a long maxi length nightgown/lounge dress (it could totally pass for out in public) {I’m still on the fence about that though}, I’ve wanted one for a long time and this one fit the bill, it was on sale, cotton and looked super comfy!  When I wore this for the first time I was so comfortable in this thing, it is super soft modal cotton, very light, and even though it has a shelf bra in it (I typically hate this, but I don’t mind it).  I would have preferred black, but I settled for grey, I think it will definitely serve a purpose, for those dog days of summer, and early autumn.

Then I fell. In. Love. With this amazing Equipment blouse.  I have definitely developed an affinity for white and cream coloured blouses and this one was no exception!  I can wear this top in a multitude of ways through out the year.  The best part is it is machine washable, something I can’t do with my navy Equipment blouse (it’s 100% silk) {BOO!} that I picked up second hand for $20.00 last year.

I also bit the bullet and bought new Hunter wellies and boot socks.  I went with the Original Short boot, at 5’3″ I figured that it would be easier to walk, (I already own a pair of the Original Tall Jimmy Choo wellies from a couple years ago) I ordered Hunter Green (one of my favourite colours)!  Hunter Green Hunter Wellies?  How fab!  I also got black cable knit cuff boot socks.  I went with black because I figured they wouldn’t get as dirty as a lighter colour.  And now I am all set for winter, between two pairs of wellies and my Ugg boots!  (Yeah, maybe I am a Basic White Bitch {J/K}).  In all seriousness I searched high and low last year pretty much from October to February for a suitable pair of boots with no avail.  I’m so glad I jumped the gun and prepared early!  Before you (I) know it the forecast will include frost warnings up my way in H.V. and it will be time to showcase old faves and my A/W 1516 shopping list (Oh no)!  And on that note, it’s time to end.

I think we’re like the wind and sea

So with much consideration I’ve decided to abandon Wen.  Here is why: so I was super excited to try it after my Mother did and her hair looked amazing!  So I bit the bullet and ordered the three 16 o.z. bottle from Sephora and I started with the Fig scent.  I tortured my self for just over a month with the most awful cherry cough syrup smell.  And the worst part is the scent lingered and stuck to my pillow and hair towel.  I finally finished the bottle last week and honestly I feel like I spent a lot of money to just end up having my hair look really dirty.  After washing if I heat styled (blow out with my Drybar Buttercup dryer, small Sephora brand round brush, Bumble and Bumble Invisible Hairdresser’s Oil Primer, and Living Proof Satin Hair Serum) it too forever.  Now my hair is considered very short, it’s just to my collar bone (at it’s longest under layer) and it took almost an hour to blow my hair our completely… completely ridiculous.  Also second day hair is not an option.  Unless you want to use way too much dry shampoo… and my hair looked like a tumble weed.  So I gave the remaining bottle to my Mother and switched back to my beloved Pantiene shampoo and conditioner.  My hair instantly looked cleaner, and is easier to style.  So put that in your pipe and smoke it Chaz Dean!  I’mm just glad it wasn’t a total loss, because that stuff is really expensive.  I would never steer anyone away from trying beauty/skincare/hair care products, this one was a big miss for me, my own opinions and my own money was spent.  And on that note, it’s time to end!

We’ll be humming along…

It is so hard to believe that July will be over in two days.  I feel like to summer is over, well almost!  And that means it’s time to recap my favourite things from July.  It’s a pretty short list this time round, I felt as though this month flew by, and I hardly accomplished anything!  Anyway, here are my favourite things from July.

1. Flats for summer – I love, love, love my heels, the higher the better!  The are a big staple in my wardrobe.  And I wear them all year round (rain, snow, yucky mud, nothing will stop me!).  But this season I am reaching more and more for my flats.  I have been pretty much living in my Jimmy Choo and Tommy Hilfiger flats this summer and I’m totally okay with that.

2. Eating lighter – When it’s too hot to function like it’s been the past few days (we are on track for a heat wave up my way in the H.V.) J and I typically eat lighter.  This means a lot of salads, grilled chicken, broiled fish, fresh fruits and veggies.  One of my favourite meals is a fillet of salmon, baked in the oven or grilled with Beekman 1802 blaack drizzle sauce, rice (preferably jasmine or brown rice), and asparagus.  It’s so easy and delicious.  Grilled chicken on a salad with a lot of fresh veggies are also a big hit for dinner.

3. July capsule challenge – This wasn’t a “favourite thing” per se but it’s coming to an end and I am super glad that I got to give my self a challenge such as this and actually complete it (for the most part) and the fact that I only cheated once!

That’s really it for July, stay tuned for my Nordies haul recap, and on that note, it’s time to end!
