Sparklers and streamers…

I have been on my staycation this week, and I must say I needed the R&R.  My days are mainly spent sleeping in, drinking coffee, doing some light house work, working on posts, and working on my book.  My book is still very rough, I’m almost at 30k for my word count.  I know I have a long way to go but it’s getting there.  Today is no exception, I’m working on some posts, writing more and more of my book and doing house work here and there!  I find that staying motivated can sometimes be a challenge, especially when the weather is nice! But when I do keep on track I am able to accomplish so much.  Here are some of my tips on writing and staying motivated:

1. I manage to stay focused by turning the T.V. way down or on mute. That way I’m not getting distracted by what is on, which is typically daytime T.V.  I may glance at the screen for a bit, but I typically don’t focus on T.V.
2. I then queue hours of music.  It ranges from 50s and 60s to early 00s EMO to Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and Lilly Allen.  I find that listening to music serves me so well. Listening to music has always been such a big part of my life, it’s almost like I can’t focus without it.
4. I find that taking regular breaks is also very helpful, staring at a computer screen all day can get very tiring.  Also getting up and stretching or walking around the room for a bit can help with circulation.
5. I also tend to just write about my passions which always makes my process easier.  And if I don’t know much about something, I do extensive research on the subject.

I thought I’d also share some of my upcoming plans.  I have a few fashion-y posts planned, all of which I am super excited about! I’ve got one planned about shorts, a S/S staple, and one about my new favourite S/S piece, just wait until you see how versatile it is!  I’m planning on enlisting J to take some photos, instead of taking them myself in my mirror.  We have some weekend plans with MIL, which should be fun to share.  And of course Memorial Day is observed next week!  I also have some BBQ plans, but more importantly it’s a time to remember all the men and women who fought for our freedom, and of course, I plan on wearing as much Red, White and Blue as I can at one time!  And on that note, it’s time to end!

All for now,
