So today my ensemble was very Veronica Sawyer, if she grew up, and worked in a financial institution that is. For those of you not in the know, she is a character from on of my favourite 80s teen films, Heathers (mentioned here); brought to life by Winona Ryder. The film was also the basis of an off-Broadway musical of the same name, sadly it’s now closed, and I missed my chance to see it. I love the character of Veronica for many reasons, I identified with her as a teen and I write, and write, and write. And I too went through a period where I fell for the “Bad Boy”(whom came to life courtesy of Christian Slater). I enjoy basing my ensembles on obscure references, that just might be the nerd in me though. And this ensemble is quickly becoming on of my favourites! Not only is it perfect for the office, it’s season-less, and it’s super cute to boot! I could easily wear a pair of black shoes for winter, navy shoes (which I currently lack), or grey booties (which are on my F/W15/16 shopping list).
Now to the good stuff! My ensemble today consisted of a white pussy bow blouse (yes that is an appropriate collar term!) from Calvin Klein, I got it from Macy’s about a year or so ago and I love to wear it with a skirt or high waist pants (similar). I was such a bargain, I think under $20.00 on the clearance rack! Blue Diane Von Furstenberg high waist pencil skirt, another clearance find, the $200.00 skirt was marked down to $50.00 (similar colour) (similar style)! I felt like I stole this thing, and I make up for that by wearing the heck out of it! For being an odd shade in between royal and navy, it’s still really easy to style. Grey J. Crew Factory Clare cardigan, this is my favourite little sweater, it’s a nice medium grade cotton, season-less and goes with everything! And I finished my look off with my go to nude Nine West pumps (similar:steal), (similar:reasonable), (also love:splurge), I love a nude pump, not only do they go with everything, they elongate the leg (a plus for me I am just over 5′!), and are season-less! It’s mainly “Veronica-like” because of the blue skirt, I could totally go play croquette with Heather, Heather, and Heather. And on that note, it’s time to end!
All for now,
Title from: Heathers (yeah I mixed it up and went with a movie quote today!)
