Breeze blows leaves of a musty-coloured yellow

Since September is almost over I thought I might share some of my favourite things! And since it’s now officially Autumn, that just may be my theme… Maybe.

1. Tartan – I love tartans, my favourite being Nightwatch, which is typically navy and green. I have a pair of trousers in this pattern and a blazer. Here are my pants.

2. Sweaters – I have 50+ sweaters and I am always looking to expand my collection. I love lightweight knits for spring and summer, heavy wool and cashmere for fall and winter. I can not get enough. If I could own all the sweaters I would. Currently I am in the market for a heavy Fisherman style like this, and a Fair Isle (I have yet to find one to my liking).

3. Brunch – I love brunch, if I could eat brunch for every meal, I would. My favourite spot locally is the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck, NY. I go as often as the wallet allows. My last visit was for my birthday. My favourite menu items include: Crab cakes Benedict, Shrimp and Arugula over linguine, the Tuxedo Bomb (and boy is it ever!), and for cocktails there is nothing better than the French martini. I know I’ve said it before, but drop what you are doing and go now! Lunch and Brunch are really reasonably priced and their cocktails are amazing!

 4. Fall T.V. – My shows are starting up again! I couldn’t be happier, already Sleepy Hollow, The Big Bang Theory, and Sons of Anarchy have aired and Blue Bloods starts tonight. So far on the new shows front I have watched Scorpion, which I like and Gotham which I love, mainly for Donal Logue, who I feel is so underrated and under utilized. I also want to catch Selfie with Karen Gillian, who I am in love with, Bad Judge and A to Z. And the rest of my shows haven’t started yet, but they will be soon!

And on that note it’s time to end.

Cause a long night means a fist fight, Against your pillow and my pearly whites…

I have had a few days off this week, and I haven’t accomplished very much… Which I am fine with. I have been doing a bit of house work and relaxed a lot, I just had my braces tightened and I have been in pain since Tuesday. I did get some great news on that front, I should be getting my bottom braces on in 6 weeks! I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully it won’t be much longer after that.

I currently sit listening to early 00s Emo watching the Ellen show. I have been contemplating my ensembles for the next few days. Tomorrow Husband and I are going to dinner with friends, and Saturday a friend is having a small get together for his birthday. I am thinking jeans, a sweater, flats, and a blazer for Saturday. Maybe something similar but with heels or boots for Friday evening. I also spent most of today trying to find a dress to wear to my cousin’s upcoming wedding in April. I know I have time but planning ensembles is one of my favourite things! I love a bunch of things from Asos, Ted Baker, and Orla Kiely. We’ll see what I end up going with. I know that I don’t want to wear black, every wedding I remember going to I wore either black or grey. I was thinking a pretty blue, floral pattern, or pink. Since it will be April and in Texas, and I have never been and haven’t seen that part of my family in ages. And on that note, it’s time to end.

All for now,

Baby do you like my sweater?

My twenty-sixth birthday has come and gone… September is winding down, autumn is fast approaching, wool and tartan are all that is on my mind, and PSL are every girls dream.

My birthday was awesome! (For once I had a great day!) I had lunch at my favourite restaurant The Beekman Arms, in Rhinebeck, NY. For anyone in the area who is not in the know, drop what you are doing and go there now! Not only is it a Historical Landmark, but the food is amazing. Then I went down to Woodbury Commons for some shopping. I picked up some things from J.Crew and Calvin Klein. More on my haul later…

Let’s talk a bit about Autumn and the wonderful world of FW14. Autumn is my favourite season for fashion. If I could wear wool, tartan, khakis, and sweaters all year I would be one happy girl. This season I am excited to wear my flea market find in a million– the Equipment blouse, it’s a great neutral Navy/Cream collar with Hot Pink cuffs. I want to wear it with everything… Even if it won’t match… That’s how much I love this blouse. I also want to wear a lot of monochromatic ensembles i.e. Burgundy on Burgundy, Navy on Navy, Grey on Grey… endless possibilities. I have incorporated some of my latest Woodbury haul already: J. Crew: Blouse, Button UpPants, Sweater, Sweater, Sweater, Dress, Skirt. I’ve worn everything new except for the charcoal skirt. I plan to wear in with either the cream blouse or the hounds-tooth sweater. On top of all of my worn in, loved heavily, tried and true autumn clothing. I love my nightwatch tartan trousers from last autumn from Ann Taylor Loft, my J. Crew Hounds-tooth Boy Blazer (also last year), Navy Ralph Lauren dress (the price was so good, I felt like I stole it) {Also very Kate Middleton esque}, Nude Nine West pumps, DM pumps from two years ago, Halogen cashmere sweater from last winter (also a steal at under $50.00)… Or any of my other 40 some odd sweaters that I have been accumulating since I was in high school (when I thought that dressing like what we would now refer to as a hipster was cool, you know suspenders, ties, cardigans over slogan tees and big black or tortoise shell glasses finished off with chuck taylors). I also want to accessorize more, I have been wearing my watch daily… Not that I need to, with the fact that I sit at a computer all day. I try to wear earrings, for some reason lately every time I do my right ear bleeds, a lot, like scabs over and I need to wait a couple of days before I shove an earring back in my ear. What’s weird about that is I have had my ears pierced for twenty years. Wow, I can say that something has happened in my life twenty years ago… Now I feel old. And on that note it’s time to end…

They say it’s your birthday It’s my birthday too…

It’s September 3rd, and we are moving right along. I am trying to enjoy my day off… Not going so well thus far. Watching daytime television , paying bills and washing dishes are all that have been accomplished. Up next is taking a shower and the hour long process that is styling my hair. I did find out that Nordies is having a sale, and J. Crew Factory is as well. PSA: You know you are depressed when the thought of shopping no longer excites you. So that is where I’m at depressed days away from twenty-six. I am always depressed around my birthday. I always am made to feel like I am unimportant and I don’t matter, regardless of it it was intentional or not and The plans that I want to make no one else does. So here is my birthday wish list at twenty-six or 2014 if you will:

1. Having a day to myself where I don’t have to speak to anyone.

2. Going to the Spa for a facial.

3. Going to see a Broadway musical; preferentially Les Miserable, which will be perfect for my mood.

4. Going to the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, or the New York Public Library.

5. Elsa Peretti Bone Cuff  at Tiffany & Co.

6. The NARSissit Eyeshadow Palette at Sephora.

7. A bottle all to myself of Dom Perignon (very brut).

8. Misplaced Childhood by Marillion on vinyl.

9. All four seasons of The OC, all six seasons of Dawson’s Creek.

10. Having a day to myself where I don’t have to speak to anyone.

And on that note it’s time to end.

All for now,

I’d like to see you when the summer sun sets down

Now that it is September first it is fourteen days before my twenty-sixth birthday… The closer I get to it the stranger I feel. I keep repeating twenty-six in my mind, almost like it’s my new mantra. So as I dwell on things that I can not change and things that I do not need to worry about such as: People that I know keep asking me when I am going to have a baby. I am really over it. I don’t know that at twenty-six I am able to cope with having a baby. At least let me have another year or two. Or the fact that Husband and I want to sell our house and try to move.

So now that it is September lets recap my favourite things.

Bumble and Bumble’s Hair Dresser’s Invisible Oil Primer not only is this stuff amazing but it smells great too. I tried a sample size from Sephora and after one use I was immediately hooked. Full size is $26.00 but it is well worth the investment.Your hair will thank you.

Doctor Who, which just started back up two weeks ago, now with Peter Capaldi as Twelve. I refer to him as #ScotDoc and so far the only thing I like about his incarnation is that he has books on display in the TARDIS. Jenna Coleman is back as Clara Oswin Oswald and as far as a companion goes she is O.K. I still have a soft spot for Rose and Ten(nant). But we are only two episodes in to the series and things are already getting interesting. Like who is the dark haired lady that offers tea after some one dies?

And on that note it’s time to end.
